Ijigen Fes iDOLM@STER x Love Live! Uta Gassen [1080p h.265]

What. A. Weekend.

I’ve been a Love Live fan since the winding-down days of the original School Idol Project, but during that time, I picked up the iDOLM@STER series starting with 765Pro and later Cinderella Girls. So to say this weekend had me excited is a pretty severe understatement. Albeit I know far more of the Love Live! side than the iM@S side, but getting to hear both in one weekend, and collabs across the two franchises, was nothing short of amazing.

What isn’t amazing, though, is the audio quality Stagecrowd gave to us. After going through so many hoops to get these (a DRM-protected platform for international fans, guys? Really?), I managed to back up copies of both days. Importing them to Handbrake to encode them in the usual H.265 MKV container I use, I discovered that the two channels of audio were given a measly 63 Kbps worth of bandwidth. That results in smaller source files than I’m used to, but also significantly worse audio quality than I would prefer.

Audio quality aside, these two nights are a must see for fans of either franchise. And I wouldn’t skip a night unless you’re really a solo oshi of one of the iM@S idols, as there were different iM@S cast members present for each night. And minus a few songs, the setlists were completely different between the two, meaning different solos, different group songs, and different collabs (and some legendary ones at that).

Playback for these files has been tested with the latest versions of VLC Media Player and MPV as of 12/13/23.

MTV Unplugged Presents: Love Live! Superstar!! Liella! [720p h.265]

We’re back again! Team ONIBE has subbed and released the blu-ray from Liella’s MTV Unplugged session. This one never got a stream overseas, so we were unable to experience this one as it happened. From the clips I’ve seen, though, the arrangements were very, very pleasing to listen to. Enjoy Liella as 5 perform some broken down versions of the songs they performed during their First LoveLive Tour!

The 720p version of this re-encode was able to lop off a bit more than the 1080p file, but only about a GB more. Still, it should help make these easier to store for those of you where disk space comes at a premium. A 12ish GB drop from the original is a lot, and for minimal loss of fidelity.

We’re back again! Team ONIBE has subbed and released the blu-ray from Liella’s MTV Unplugged session. This one never got a stream overseas, so we were unable to experience this one as it happened. From the clips I’ve seen, though, the arrangements were very, very pleasing to listen to. These re-encodes were able to lop off a lot of space requirement for these files, which should help make these easier to store for those of you where disk space comes at a premium. An 11 GB drop from the original is fairly sizeable, but from what I can tell, not much, if any, visual fidelity was lost in the process.

Love Live! Superstar!! Liella! 2nd LoveLive! ~What a Wonderful Dream!!~ (720p)

A new Onibe release means a new h.265 re-encode, and this time we’ve got Liella’s 2nd Live tour Blu-Ray. This was the final live where Liella performed as 5 members, and what a fun live it was. We got SunnyPa performances with the anime tie-in theme, full-group versions of the songs that Sayurin handled during their first tour, and the Yuigaoka Girls Band during the Osaka leg of the tour! This BD includes Day 2 from Yokohama (their first stop), and Day 2 from Osaka (their last stop) along with the behind the scenes content included with the performances.

The 1080p re-encode cut the original size by a clean 50%, resulting in a 24.4 GB total size vs the original’s 48.8 GB. This brings it down even further to 17.5 GB. With all re-encoded comes some level of degradation in quality, but considering the way this was able to be crunched down with minimal fidelity loss, I’m happy with the end result.

If you want to see all the performances without the polish (and aggressive vocal tuning) of the BD, I’ve also got the Yokohama, Nagoya, and Osaka stops ripped from the PIA streams. It’s a more raw experience, and it’s without subtitles, but it has its own value in my opinion. These are 1080p rips, but because of the source quality, they’re significantly smaller than the BD release as individual days.

And the final leg of Liella’s 4L tour comes to a close with announcements! 5L in Jan/Feb 2024 (so soon!) and Season 3 confirmed for 2024!!!

Aside from the announcements, we enjoyed much of the same sets with just a few tweaks here and there during the solo sections. 5yncri5e! also had their chance to shine, and boy did they ever! Aweosme choreography, impressive vocal power and stability (looking at you Emorin), and an interesting(?) WaWD arrangement that’s been growing on me. Beyond that, it’s great seeing everyone break out of their shells more and more. So many power-ups this tour.

Because of the larger source files from e+, I will be providing both 1080p and 720p versions of my uploads whenever e+ is the source.

Throughout this weekend, we got Nonchan getting revenge on Beginners Rock, a teddy bear that didn’t want to cooperate with Liyuu, and oh my god CatChu!

Honestly, the album doesn’t do their sound justice. Take a listen to their songs on the release, then take a listen to just how raw the performance is (especially on day 2) live. It’s a completely different level of intensity and passion you just can’t convey through a recorded medium. Some of the best performances so far from Paychan, Sayurin, and especially Yabuchan who has clearly leveled up her game.

Liella! 4th LoveLive! Tour ~brand new Sparkle~ KALEIDOSCORE ver. (720p)

And Liella’s fourth live series is officially underway!

This live saw a number of firsts, most notably Yuina and Saku-chan performing on stage with the other nine members! Lots of emotions this weekend, especially for Saku-chan, who was riding a wave of firsts.

This weekend also saw a few new 11-member versions of songs, KALEOIDOSCORE’s first few performances (with hand mics!!!), and Kumachan’s hair doing whatever it damn well pleased on Day 1.

I elected to swap to e+ from PIA for this live, as I wanted to compare quality. The source from e+ definitely seems better when compared to PIA source, but obtaining a usable copy of the file that actually grabbed all chunks of the file proved to be more difficult than it should have been. I’ve reviewed the files, though, and I don’t see anything glaring about them. Considering these are H.265 re-encodes of the originals, you shouldn’t encounter any playback issues or artifacting beyond what was present in the source.

Because of the larger source files from e+, I will be providing both 1080p and 720p versions of my uploads whenever e+ is the source.
