Love Live! Series Presents Unit Koshien 2024 (1080p)

I know I always open with this, but what a weekend.

I really hope the LoveLive! Series does more cross-series events because this was so much fun. We got to see each group show off a selection of their own units’ songs, as well as participate in some pretty insane collabs?

We got to sneak peek the new Liella subunit songs on D1, had a typical DiverDiva moment on D2, got SAINT AQOURS SNOW for the first time in years (to a massive crowd reaction as well!!), and (my personal favorites) Nonfiction and Deep Resonance collabs during D2’s extra innings portion. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Everyone killed it, even despite a couple groups being shorthanded.

Playback has been tested on the latest versions of VLC Media Player and MPV as of 3/12/24.

LoveLive! Series 9th Anniversary Love Live! Fest [720p h.265]

All credit for subtitles and original files go to Team ONIBE and their amazing team that brought the original TLs to us.

Team Onibe has graced us with their subbing of the 9th Anniversary Love Live Fest just in time for its spiritual successor, in a way, the Unit Koshien, this weekend! This was one of the final concerts in the before times, before COVID kicked everyone’s asses and shut down the world for a while. It was also the last time I got to see a delayed viewing in a movie theater, so it’s a bit of a nostalgia trip for me.

It’s hard to think about at this point, with six group lives and numerous other activities under their belt, but this was just the third live for Nijigasaki, and their first real exposure to the rest of the Love Live community that may not have known about them. Their first numbered live happened almost exactly one month prior to Fest, so each of them performed their first solo songs from the Tokimeki Runners CD, and this would have been their largest live crowd to date (and still might be one of their larger crowds, if not the largest).

Aqours shone as they always have, with the first live performance of Mitaiken Horizon, the usual Aqours energy and polish, and fearless leader Anchan reverting to her superfan self for a few brief moments during closing MCs, shortly after µ’s performed Snow Halation.

And yes! µ’s performed a medley of their songs! It was their live performance as 9 since their Final Live in 2016, and it was so, so nice to see them back together again. The medley, of course, was followed by Snow Halation, and that legendary orange glow that accompanies it.

This encode shrinks the original even more than the 1080p encode published along with this, cutting 20 GB off of the original download and ~8 GB off of the 1080p encode size. This will be the ideal version for those with even tighter bandwitdh caps or less drive space to work with.

This has been tested with the latest versions of VLC Media Player and MPV as of 3/7/2024.

Love Live! Superstar!! Liella! 5th LoveLive! ~Twinkle Triangle~ (Tokyo Leg) (1080p)

Let’s GO confirmation of S3’s airing!

We have now arrived at the end of Liella’s 5th Live tour, putting an announcement-filled bow on top of it all. The setlist was more or less samesies as Fukuoka, so nothing really that notable to add to what I already said last time.

Of the information we did get, though, we now known the following:

  • New Liella subunit music dropping in late April
  • Season 3 broadcasts in October
  • That break in concerts I thought I was getting is no more. RIP my wallet if I want to keep up with these shows (I’ll probably have to pick and choose).

Love Live! Superstar!! Liella! 5th LoveLive! ~Twinkle Triangle~ (Fukuoka Leg) (1080p)

WOW!

The beauty of lives not tying into an anime season or movie is that you just don’t know what to expect. You could have bet me a thousand dollars to guess the song order for either of the days last night, and I would have lost every single time.

Eleven member versions of songs we’ve only heard with the original generation(s), subunit songs, songs we haven’t heard in a long time… we had everything, and it was amazing. I can’t wait to see what else we get/if they change anything for the Tokyo leg.

Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club 6th Live! I love You ⇆ You love Me (Kanagawa Leg) (1080p)

Another weekend of Love Live concerts has concluded, this time with Nijigasaki ending their two-stop, four-day 6th Live.

This weekend saw a new set of solo songs, some oldies-but-goodies, Christmas songs replaced with “Happy Nyan New Year Days”, and one of the most epic returns of a beloved character we got to know well during the Unit Live era of concerts. On top of that, we got announcements for a confirmed 7th live, and a Switch Visual Novel from Bushiroad that I HOPE gets formal localizations outside of Japan. We also received news that the end is closing in on us, as they announced the first of three finale movies releases this September 2024. I’m not ready to begin bringing Nijigasaki to a close, but I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the ride so far and plan on seeing this through to the end.

Compression of the files didn’t make all that difference from the raw original, but it lopped off a few GB total, at least, and cut out the non-live extra stuff.

Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club 6th Live! I love You ⇆ You love Me (Aichi Leg) (1080p)

Can you believe it’s already been six numbered lives for Nijigaku? Where has the time gone?!

This live brought Coco Hayashi to her first numbered live as a member of Nijigasaki and, while still a bit of a touchy subject for me personally, I’m so happy to see how well Hayamaru’s doing and how much the community has embraced her as the new Setsuna. And you’d best believe she showed us why she is suited for the role this weekend. Wow!

Along with that came some silly C&R antics, a silent Chiemi, the new solo songs, and plenty of throwbacks to keep us on our toes.

Yohane the Parhelion -The Story of the Sound of Heart- (720p)

Another great weekend of lives has wrapped!

Aqours returns to the stage to become their alternate universe selves that they played in Yohane The Parhelion: Sunshine in the Mirror. Through each night, we were taken through a recollection of the major story points during the season, culminating in the (spoiler alert) defeating of the calamity that had been plaguing Numazu throughout the entirety of the season.

No major surprises this weekend, with songs from the show, Blu-Ray songs (some of which were unreleased), and a special surprise on the third day that may or may not have brought Aikyan to tears. Overall, it was a very enjoyable live that put a bow on what has been this series.

This upload saves an additional ~4 GB in storage requirements when compared to the 1080p version. Playback has been tested on the latest versions of VLC Media Player and MPV as of 12/18/23.

Ijigen Fes iDOLM@STER x Love Live! Uta Gassen [720p h.265]

100 songs.

Two historic franchises.

What. A. Weekend.

I’ve been a Love Live fan since the winding-down days of the original School Idol Project, but during that time, I picked up the iDOLM@STER series starting with 765Pro and later Cinderella Girls. So to say this weekend had me excited is a pretty severe understatement. Albeit I know far more of the Love Live! side than the iM@S side, but getting to hear both in one weekend, and collabs across the two franchises, was nothing short of amazing.

What isn’t amazing, though, is the audio quality Stagecrowd gave to us. After going through so many hoops to get these (a DRM-protected platform for international fans, guys? Really?), I managed to back up copies of both days. Importing them to Handbrake to encode them in the usual H.265 MKV container I use, I discovered that the two channels of audio were given a measly 63 Kbps worth of bandwidth. That results in smaller source files than I’m used to, but also significantly worse audio quality than I would prefer.

At least the 720p version is 6 GB smaller than the 1080p version, right?

Audio quality aside, these two nights are a must see for fans of either franchise. And I wouldn’t skip a night unless you’re really a solo oshi of one of the iM@S idols, as there were different iM@S cast members present for each night. And minus a few songs, the setlists were completely different between the two, meaning different solos, different group songs, and different collabs (and some legendary ones at that).
